Feedback isn't optional, even for high performing reports. Hell, *especially* for high performing reports.
There was this one Monday afternoon when an exec at my organization pinged me on Slack asking to speak with me. There was a tool we planned to build and offer to our customers, and some guys had created a product that did almost exactly what we had in mind. We wanted to acquire their company, and I was tasked with the due diligence of the acquisition. I was supposed to assess the quality of their team and their product. We had a pre-approved number, and we had to figure out how much we would be willing to offer.
This is a short story about doing performance reviews, even if they are not delivered, significantly increased my awareness of the team.
